m1r: insert LH needle into horizontal
bar between sts from back to
front, k into front of this loop
p2yrn: p st wrapping yarn
twice around needle
Twist: bring right needle forward and
down in front of work, take right needle to
back under cast-on edge, twisting work,
allow work to ‘fall’ forwards (pulling yarn in
front of needle) so that work hangs from
right needle as usual with twist between
needles, bring yarn to back between
needles (if you have dropped yarn, you
may need to bring it from back to front
below work, before wrapping twist by
passing yarn from front to back between
needles). Next st should be worked tightlyFOR ABBREVIATIONS SEE PAGE 97ABOUT THE YARN
Cygnet Aran is a great value acrylic yarn
that’s soft, smooth and easy to care for.
It knits to a standard aran tension on
5mm needles, but smaller needles are
used for this project. The yarn costs
£1.75 per 100g (210m) ball from
01709 361221, cygnetyarnshop.co.ukIf you find that a woolly hat is sometimes just too much, but you still want to keep
your ears warm – and haven’t worn earmuffs since you were five – then a cosy
headband is just the ticket. This one features a lovely raised leaf effect, which
perfectly complements the pretty rose embellishment. You’ll get to try double
yarn forwards, left and right leaning increases, plus a clever twist effect when
making the flower. Enjoy!STAY WARM WITH CHARMAINE FLETCHER’S
