Change it in other apps
Here’s the customisation options
for the Touch Bar in Safari. As a rule, you
can expect Apple’s best-known apps to
have Touch Bar customisation; for
others it’s a bit of a lottery.
Define the defaults
You can customise the global set
of Touch Bar tools by going into System
Preferences > Extensions > Customise
Control Strip. You can choose or reorder
tools for tasks such as screenshots.

Dashboard déjà vu
Adjusting your
trackpad and
mouse gestures
> Mission Control is a mash-up of three
OS X features: Exposé for hiding windows
(Panther); Spaces for multiple desktops
(Leopard); and Dashboard, which enabled
app widgets (Tiger). Dashboard was
moved back out again to become OS X
Mountain Lion’s Notification Centre. To
change widgets, click on the Notification
Centre icon (top right) then click Edit.
Changing responses
> You can change the way your
trackpad or mouse works by going
into System Preferences and
selecting Trackpad or Mouse
respectively. This enables you to
enable or disable specific gestures
or to change which gestures do
what. System Preferences also
enables you to change how
responsive the mouse is to
movement, and how many fingers
you need to do a ≈-click
equivalent on the trackpad.
It’s only Natural
> System Preferences also enables
you to change the scroll direction
of the mouse or trackpad. The
default, Natural, mimics scrolling
on iOS where you tap and drag, but
you can change it here if preferred.
With your Trackpad, you can also
enable or disable Force Click, which
is like long-pressing on an iPad or
iPhone: if you click and press firmly
you can access Quick Look, Look
Up (if you’ve selected a word or
phrase) or media controls for
video or music.
