festive flair

Food and celebration have always gone hand in hand, but never more

so than at Christmas, when your dining table becomes the stage for

the main event. Start with an elegant centrepiece – a tower of ruby red

pomegranates on a glass cake stand creates a simple but effective focal

point. Tapered candles, bowls of pine cones and bunches of cranberries

are equally special. Look for antique cutlery and silver platters, which

may feel too much at any other time of the year but are just perfect

for now. Hold a small gift back for each diner, for a classier

(and more personal) alternative to a cracker.
