Butwhat
didshe

mean about “in the meantime”?
“Purely as an investment. With the
intent to sell it one day. For the kids.
That’s the deal.”
The cerebral cogs go into overdrive
as I stare off into middle-distance. The
options, the options. What did Guido
and Falloon suggest in that story a
while back? SP-1 and 2s, but the red
elephant in the room says a 916 – it
was in the Guggenheim Museum for
goodness sake. They’re almost old
enough for cheaper club registration,
too, which often correlates to rising
prices. Yeah, but a sportsbike? Not
really my jam. An 850 Eldorado
pushes more buttons for me, but is it
bankable?
Then I hit the brakes, which is the
point where I typically sober up from
my drunken two-wheeled fairytale and
become a rational grown up.
a). There’s a big difference between
buying a motorcycle to ride and purely
investing in one;
b). I’d hate to admit it but history
shows there’s a better return on cars
by reaching a broader audience;
c). We really should be focussing our
finances on the more important things
like the usual X, Y and Z.
Then we were really brought back to
earth. Our contemplative silence and
opportunistic eye-gazing was severed
by the usual sounds of fighting,
arguing and crying emitting from
elsewhere in the house. Well, that
ends that, and we haven’t circled
back since. Thanks, kids.
I’ll keep you posted, but don’t hold
your breath.
