As 5G wireless technology rolls
out, it will bring disruption with it. 5G
smartphones are magnitudes faster than
current 4G phones, and will grow to 25%
of all phones worldwide by 2023 from less
than 1% today, writes Needham analyst
Rajvindra S. Gill. He thinks three compa-
nies will benefit the most from 5G: Sky-
works Solutions, Qorvo, and Broadcom.
Skyworks will be a “major beneficiary of
the 5G handset upgrade cycle...especially
at Apple and Samsung.” Qorvo is “well po-
sitioned to handle 5G requirements, such
as new frequency bands, small form factors,
lower capital costs, and lower [power] con-
sumption.” Broadcom offers key technolo-
gy for smartphones and 5G base stations.
