Which Sony first-party game
do we want to see remade?
LET’S BRING BACK
GABE LOGAN IN A BIG
WAY, AS BEFITTING
THIS EXPLOSIVE
ESPIONAGE SERIES
While I feel Bend Studio
has bigger plans for its
classic hit series, I’d still
love to see Syphon Filter
remade on PlayStation 4.
The original games felt
like Metal Gear Solid
directed by Jerry
Bruckheimer tag-teaming
with JJ Abrams. This was
a series that emphasised
the action in stealth-
action, and managed to
blend many game styles
into one globe-trotting
package. Rather than
stick to one instalment I’d
suggest remaking the
original trilogy into one
game – a reimagining in
the footsteps of Final
Fantasy VII Remake. Let’s
bring back Gabe Logan
and the gang and take
this campaign viral. Q
NOT EVERY CLASSIC
IS IMPROVED AS A
REMAKE BUT PLENTY
DESERVE TO BE
REMASTERED.
After Siren: Blood Curse,
I shan’t be making the
case for Forbidden Siren
to be remade. While I
wouldn’t mind the option
to play the second game
alongside the first on
modern hardware, the
technical limitations of
both titles are assets and
the last thing I’d want
‘improved’ upon. Some
things, as the saying
goes, are best left
un*blorp*ed with. No,
instead I’ve been swayed
by the case recently
made by YouTuber
VaatiVidya for a Demon’s
Souls Remaster. Though
the game’s imperfect in
many ways, it’s still a
shame to leave such an
influential title to languish
on last-gen hardware. Q
WHY AREN’T THERE
MORE GAMES WHERE
YOU PLAY AS A DOG?
Even all these years on
and with brand-new
hardware at our
fingertips few games
have touched the sheer
mad inventiveness of
Dog’s Life for PS2. People
love dogs. Fact. Why don’t
more devs understand
this? If we can’t get new
pup-based games, then
a full remake of Dog’s Life
might be the next best
thing. It lets you step into
the paws of man’s best
friend, experiencing
everything that entails –
from being challenged by
doors to a first-person
smelling mode that has
you tracking scents. Plus
it’s not just goofy fun. The
end of this game is
harrowing, and revolves
around a plot to turn
pooches into cat food. It’s
actually quite terrifying. Q
WE DON’T NEED
MORE GOD OF WAR,
WE NEED MARK OF
KRI’S SETTING AND
CLEVER COMBAT.
When it wasn’t churning
out award-winning MLB
games, Sony’s San Diego
Studio created its own
third-person action game,
Mark Of Kri. I’d love to see
a full remake of this
unique take on God Of
War. The Polynesian-
influenced fantasy setting
and Maori mythology still
feel fresh. The mix of
cartoon visuals (the
original team was made
up of former Disney
animators) and graphic
violence is jarring in a
good way. It was the
control system I’d love to
see reworked on PS4 –
you could launch attacks
on the right thumbstick
and link stealth kills by
tagging multiple enemies.
Make it happen, Sony. Q
just one more question...
the team debate this month’s burning issue
BONING UP
The remade MediEvil is stretching
its bony legs onto PS4 this month
and proving there’s still (after)life
in old games. What do you think of
Sony’s latest remake? Write in or
