How Star Wars Co-Stars Found a Lost Dog (in Brussels)
Adam Driver deserves a big lick across his face. The Star Wars actor was
in Belgium shooting a musical with Marion Cotillard — Annette, about a
stand-up comic and his opera singer wife — when director Leos Carax’s
9-year-old black-and-white dog, Javelot, went missing. “Everyone was
distraught,” Driver, 35, says. So he snapped into action, shooting a video
in Brussels’ Parc Royal next to a lost dog poster, begging the public to
search for the pooch. “We will put you in the movie,” Driver promised
on the clip. “We’ll give you chocolate. We’ll christen your child. We’ll
do anything.” Then he sent it to his more social-media-sav v y Star Wars
co-star Mark Hamill and asked him to tweet it to his 3 million followers.
The happy ending: After the video was viewed some 800,000 times,
Javelot was spotted at a train station and reunited with Carax. Notes
Driver, “Mark is a powerful, powerful guy.” — REBECCA FORD

Jared Leto as the Joker in Suicide Squad.

Why So Serious? Jared Leto
Fumes Over New Joker
Just how angry is Jared Leto over
Joker? Last week THR reported
that the 47-year-old actor, who
played the grinning crime lord in
2016’s Suicide Squad, felt “alien-
ated and upset” and thought
Warner Bros. had strung him
along with promises of his own
Joker stand-alone film, only to
greenlight Todd Phillips’ version
with Joaquin Phoenix instead.
Sources say it’s one reason Leto
left CAA for WME over the

husband, Mickey Deans, snuck a
microphone under his seat one
night, and the tapes he made
ended up in the hands of Judy
producer David Livingstone. “I’ve
got it and it’s reel-to-reel,” he tells
Rambling Reporter. Livingstone
says he discovered the tapes
during preproduction after
contacting Garland’s London
handler, Rosalyn Wilder (played in
the movie by Jessie Buckley). “She
had the truth [about Judy] and all
the details,” he says. “She intro-
duced us to people who hadn’t
spoken about Judy in 40 years.”
Sadly, Livingstone does not have
plans to share the audio. “It is not
public,” he says.

Succession Theme Music
‘Takes On a Life of Its Own’
Nicholas Britell won an Emmy for
his piano-tinkling main title tune
for HBO’s Succession, but the true
measure of the composition’s suc-
cess is the number of memes and
GIFs it’s generating. “Honestly,
when you’re writing music, the
dream is just that people feel what
you’re feeling, but this has taken
on a life of its own,” the 38-year-
old composer tells Rambling of
the explosion of clips on social
media, like the one of Kermit
the Frog dancing to it in perfect
synchronicity (1 million views).
Britell even collaborated with
Pusha T for a single in which the
rapper sings over the melody
(500,000 views). Others involved
with Succession, though, are find-
ing the social churn hard to keep
up with. “It’s overwhelming,” says
Nicholas Braun, who plays Cousin
Greg. “You can create something
and every seven seconds everyone
is talking about it. I have to step
away from it.” — NATALIE JAMIESON

summer — “You’ve got to stop
this,” a source claims he fumed
to the agents about Phillips’ Joker,
adding that, as an Oscar winner,
he should be a bigger priority. At
one point, Leto asked his then-
music manager Irving Azoff to
call then-Time Warner CEO Jeff
Bewkes and convince him to
kill the Phillips film. A source
close to Leto claims this is not
true and notes that he’s cur-
rently doing a movie for Warners.
Says another source close to the
drama: “Jared’s not a nasty guy,
but he’s self-absorbed.”
