It’s a tricky thing to balance accessibil-

ity and aspiration. And yet, as a

magazine, that’s what we’ve consist-

ently strived to do. So a jewellery

special coupled with a serious focus on

the high street shouldn’t come to you

as a surprise at all.

I hope you enjoy our loving tribute

to jewellery. Some of the sparkling

love stories in this issue, of women

and their baubles, will make even radi-

cal elopements pale in comparison. We

also track the latest trends, the

must-have brands and the books and

auction secrets to arm yourself with

before you buy that exquisite Colom-

bian emerald you’ve had your eye on

for years.

For me, a Vogue woman is one who

upcycles her everyday white shirt with

an heirloom jadau necklace. She

knows that style doesn’t come with a

price tag. It is not only about what

money can buy—it’s what you do with

it. She is equally comfortable with her

high-street torn blue jeans as she

Fine takes me to our cover girl this

month, Kareena Kapoor Khan, who

has never looked as beautiful, ap-

peared as endearing or exuded as

She has come a long way from

endorsing size zero to embracing life

in all its glory. I believe Kareena is a

shining example of a successful and

grounded career woman who is

seemingly at ease balancing work and

married life, and looking drop-dead

gorgeous while at it.

Mira Kulkarni, the genius behind

one of our favourite Indian brands,

Forest Essentials, is another example

grace and elegance deserve longer paeans but her contribution to building one

of modern Indian luxury’s juggernaut brands is addressed here. I particularly

admire how her brand retains its Indian-ness without bordering

on kitsch or falling into the expected loops.
