I begin to block in the large plane changes, mapping
the edges where the light meets dark. I purposely set
up the light so that the major light and shadow
breaks occur primarily along the major plane breaks.STAGE FOUR
As I begin the painting process, I mix a thin, inklike
color-and-turpentine combination. I then paint over
the charcoal lines to make them more permanent so
that they won’t smear when I start laying in thicker
paint and the large overriding value/color masses.Demo continued on
