It was serendipity when I met the maker of the
most frothy, beautiful gowns, couturier Giam-
battista Valli. It was in March last year, at my
friend Saloni’s 10th-anniversary ‘Holi Saloni’
celebration in Rajasthan. Giamba, as we all call
him, is warm, friendly and engaging all at once.
Not many know this, but his love for India and
frequent visits transpired into the spring/sum-
mer 2019 collection. Exactly a year later, we sit
