IMAN ALLANA,
THE MILLENNIAL

She was scouted by Dolce & Gabbana for their show and has Ta-
mara Ralph of Ralph & Russo on speed dial. When it comes to
millennials channelling maximalism, Iman Allana, founder of
Bollyglow, is a leading force.
My most maximalist piece is a Louis Vuitton menswear gilet
(it has multiple pockets and you’re literally hands-free!).
My earliest fashion memory is going to a store called Please
Mum with my mum in London at the age of eight. That store was
probably the coolest multi-brand boutique for kids in the ’90s!
An all-time maximalist muse is Rihanna. She can do no wrong,
in my eyes.
Before walking for the Dolce & Gabbana show we had a fi -
nal run-through at Harrods till midnight. It was like a frat party!
I knew I didn’t have to look like a model, so I clearly remember
eating a cheeseburger and fries the night before.
The most underrated OTT item is a hoodie. They’re cosy,
sporty and young but when embellished they can look super
glamorous,too.—Akanksha Kamath

SHEETALBHAGATMAFATLAL,
THERISKTAKER

She famously had Donatella Versace create her wed-
ding lehenga. When it comes to her wardrobe,
Sheetal Bhagat-Mafatlal is not afraid to let her
clothes do the talking.
My style: “ Luxe, uninhibited, glamorous, edgy, a bit
of rock ‘n’ roll. It’s about being remembered, not just
being noticed.”
My most maximal looks: “ The Versace lehenga.
The atelier was taken aback as they had never before
been approached to design an Indian wedding lehen-
ga. My brief was clear—it had to be something that
was a tribute to the late iconic Gianni Versace (my
childhood hero), refl ecting his mantra ‘one must al-
ways dazzle.’ The museum-worthy piece is a combi-
nation of their iconic chainmail and embroidered
fabric. To complement the sheer dramatic appeal of
the lehenga, the choli was encrusted with Swarovski
crystals and accented with embroidered gold motifs.
Then there was a Manish Malhotra burnt-rust le-
henga with an antique mathapatti, and an Alexandre
Vauthier ’80s-inspired minidress.”
In my cart: “ A black track suit from Vetements,
Balenciaga monochrome trench with logo print and
graffi ti pumps, a white sari with a tulle silver-embel-
lished long-sleeved blouse from Manish Malhotra.”
Infl uencer: “ With maximalism having a moment
right now, Donatella Versace’s revived the vintage
Versace imagery, much to the delight of the label’s
loyalists like me.”
Spring/summer 2019: “It’s all about logo mania.”
