Xilinx
17 U.S. (XLNX, $90)
The semiconductor
developer is well-
positioned to serve
growing markets in-
cluding A.I. and 5G
technology thanks to
its specialization in
field-programmable
gate arrays (FPGA)—a
two-player market in
which it’s gaining mar-
ket share from rival
Intel. Like most firms
in the semiconductor
field, trade tensions
remain a sizable chal-
lenge; Huawei was a
major customer before
the U.S. largely banned
dealing with the Chi-
nese telecom giant.

Nvidia
26 U.S. (NVDA, $181)
CAN ANYTHING keep Jensen Huang’s semi-
conductor company down? The price of
Nvidia stock plunged last year after the
Santa Clara, Calif., company recorded
declining revenue for its signature graph-
ics chip business. In hindsight, it was a
momentary lapse of reason. Early sales for
Nvidia’s new RTX line of graphics cards have
proved so strong that the product family
is outpacing its predecessor—a chip that
helped Nvidia nearly double the money it
makes in gaming. Meanwhile the company’s
investment in artificial intelligence con-
tinues apace as it shifts away from selling
processors to cloud providers and toward
large enterprises. Nvidia’s most intriguing
play? Automotive. The company is helping
automakers add self-driving features to
their vehicles—a small business today, but
the sky’s the limit.

China Tower
22 CHINA (CHWRF, $0.22)
5G looks ready to take
over China, and China
Tower Corporation is
rolling it out. The tele-
communications infra-
structure ser vices firm
was formed in 2014
through a merger of
units run by China
giants China Mobile,
China Unicom, and
China Telecom. A ques-
tionable regulatory en-
vironment, however, is
worrisome to those
who believe growth is
too dependent on polit-
ical factors.

Longfor
45 CHINA (LGFRY, $40)
Wu Yajun, the founder,
chairman, and former
CEO of this Chongqing-
founded real estate
group, was once among
the richest women in
China. Effectively she
still is, but last year Wu
transferred her entire
stake in Longfor to a
trust controlled by her
daughter. Wu still has
sway over Longfor,
however, which last
year saw contracted
sales rise 28.5% to
$30 billion. The devel-
oper, which invests in
both commercial and
residential space,
had a land bank of
70.93 million square
meters as of June, with
the majority of proper-
ties in high-demand
areas of Tier 1 cities.
The company’s stock is
on a strong upward
trend, rising 37%
this year.
