Basic Drawing Made Amazingly Easy (Made Amazingly Easy Series)

(sharon) #1

A tea set is an elegant and refined subject for still life. Like the bowl
of fruit, these are somewhat forgiving shapes. If your teapot looks a
little wider, or taller, than mine, that’s okay. In addition to the
aesthetics of the individual pieces, you can turn them to whatever
angle you choose to create an attractive composition.
Take note of the angle at which we are viewing the tea set. We, the
viewers, are positioned at eye level with the cups (seen starting on
this page). This means that we are barely able to look over the top
and into the openings. Therefore, the circumference around the cups
must be drawn as slender ovals.
You can also ensure that each teapot appears round and
symmetrical by drawing two ovals inside the initial constructions (see
this page).
