Completing the Quilt
Before making the border strips, see if your quilt center matches the
measurements below and if not, make any necessary adjustments.
- Make 2 — 1½" x 20½" red woven side inner border strips. Referring to the
Quilt Assembly Diagram, sew those two strips to the sides of the quilt center.
- Make 2 — 1½" x 26½" red woven top and bottom inner border strips, then
sew those to the top and bottom of the quilt top. - Make 2 — 4½" x 22½" charcoal/gray stripe side outer border strips, then
sew those to the sides of the quilt top. - Make 2 — 4½" x 34½" charcoal/gray stripe top and bottom outer border
strips, then sew those to the top and bottom of the quilt top. - Appliqué the whimsically placed letters to the top and bottom borders to
complete the quilt. - Sandwich the quilt top, batting and backing; baste. Quilt as desired, then bind.
