I
sn’t the compliment, “You look so well,”
always more of a thrill to receive than
being asked, “What make-up are
you wearing?” I was told the former
countless times after a session with Amalie
Russell, a pro Bobbi Brown make-up artist,
whose skilful layering of products is a trick
worth adding to your repertoire.
First up: texture. “Cream blushers give
a natural glow – they lift complexions
because they catch the light beautifully,”
she says. Next, colour: Russell has a double-
blush approach, applying both peach and
pink tones, one on top of the other, for a
natural result. “Begin with a peachy tone,
applied with a foundation brush on to the
cheeks and up to the cheekbones. Follow
with a pinky colour, just on the apples, and
feather into the peachy base.”
The final addition? A cream bronzer,
which is essential to warm up the skin and
add balance to the flush of blush. Et voilˆ...
a true lit-from-within glow. n
