BOOST CAMP
Consider boosters the pocket rockets of the skincare
world – and your skin’s new best friend. “They’re a
powerhouse of active ingredients, or often one single
concentrated ingredient, and target specific skin
conditions where you need an extra hit,” says facialist
Michaella Bolder. While you can use them alone, like a
serum, they also work brilliantly when added to your
existing skincare for a supercharged effect.
CAPSULE
COLLECTION
Convenient and clever,
capsules deliver the
ideal amount of product
at every application.
But they also stabilise
ingredients such as
vitamin C (notoriously
unstable, it oxidises on
contact with the air and
loses potency) to ensure
that they do their job.

PATCH WORK
A new wave of face patches are
utilising “microdart” technology
to distribute ingredients. Unlike
masks, they are embedded with
soft mini needles that create
small channels into the skin and
allow serum to penetrate. “To
work effectively, ingredients
need to overcome the skin’s
barrier. Micro patches make this
easier, and can be so effective
that they negate the need for
in-clinic needle treatments,” says
skin specialist Debbie Thomas.

MIST OPPORTUNITIES
Much more than a quick midday
refresh, new technology has led
to the rise of the serum-in-mist:
“Micromists carry a smaller
molecule, which is able to slip
ingredients into skin cells,” says
Michaella Bolder, who also points
out that they are versatile enough
to use pre- or post-make-up.
