Check-in

THE LATEST IN TRAVEL AND LIFESTYLE.

THIS MONTH, RESTAURANTS THAT ARE TAKING

EXPERIENTIAL DINING TO NEW LEVELS.

DOWN LOW

On the coast of Lindesnes, Norway, you’ll find

Under, a tubular concrete restaurant jut ting

out of the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

The semi-submerged structure, which also

functions as an artificial reef, seats up to 40

adventurous foodies and offers a fixed sea-

sonal menu built around local ingredients.

The wood-panelled entrance leads you five

metres below the surface through a bar and

into a dining room, which features a floor-

to-ceiling window that looks out into the sea.

(Marine biologists use it for research during

off-hours.) Plan ahead: Tables at the under-

water resto, the first of its kind in Europe, are

booked months in advance.

WAY UP

The list of reasons to head to the weekend-only brunch at Magic Hour Rooftop

Bar & Lounge, located on top of the Moxy Times Square hotel, is seemingly

endless. There’s the view of the Empire State Building, best enjoyed while sipping

on something from the extensive cocktail menu. (May we suggest the oversized

Pick Your Poison spritz, meant for sharing with friends?) And then there’s our

favourite: the rotating carousel seating—fitted with cushions and tables, not

unicorns—which puts an adult spin on the youthful, carnival-esque spot.

EVEN HIGHER

A night out for dinner at the Eiffel Tower is a no-brainer. But when that dinner is at the newly

revamped Le Jules Verne, led by Michelin-starred French gastronomic chef Frédéric Anton,

it ’s an absolute must. (We recommend the lobster and truffle ravioli.) Architect-designer

Aline Asmar d ’Amman, who also worked on the nearby Hôtel de Crillon, adorned the

space in a grey palette inspired by the dreamy colour of Parisian rooftops. The sights inside

are almost as stunning as the 360-degree view of the cit y from 125 metres up.
