MATERIALS

FOR ONE ORNAMENT

Metallic gold string
Quick-setting gel glue
4-inch-diameter tissue-paper
honeycomb ball: ivory
Two 7-millimeter round beads: gold
Scrap of gold tinsel garland
15-millimeter round wooden bead

Fold a 20-inch-length of gold string in half.
Glue the string to spine of folded ball,
extending the fold in string about 3^1 ∕ 2  inches
beyond one edge of ball and the string ends
past the opposite edge of ball; let dry.

Open honeycomb ball and glue

cardboard backings together to keep the

ball expanded. Thread a gold bead onto

the string loop and glue to ball top; let dry.

Glue tinsel garland into a tight ring and

thread string ends through the center. Glue

tinsel ring to ball bottom; let dry. Thread

wooden bead and gold bead onto string

ends; glue in place and let dry. Knot string

ends and trim.

MATERIALS

5×7-inch shadow box
Acrylic paint: white and silver
Artists brush
2 identical 5×7-inch greeting cards
with laser-cut winter scene
Crafts glue
Dimensional adhesive squares
Metallic silver paper trim
Silver washi tape

PREPARE THE SHADOW BOX

Set aside front frame of shadow box and
save for another use. Paint the inside,
outside, and edge of box white; let dry.
Paint the box backing silver; let dry.
Remove laser-cut scenes from card
backings if needed. Use one complete
scene as the front image.

From remaining scene, select elements

to use in background. Attach background

elements to the box backing. Glue

some elements directly on backing or

use adhesive squares and fl ip and angle

elements as desired. Trim adhesive

squares as needed to fi t behind small or

narrow elements.

Once background is complete, glue

complete 5×7-inch laser-cut scene to front

edge of box. Trim card edges as needed.

Cut strips of silver paper trim. Glue strips

to front edges of shadow box, covering

card edges. Add silver washi tape around

outside of box for embellishment.
