The demand for financial capital comes from firms’ need to finance
their investment in new physical capital. The supply of financial
capital comes from households’ saving decisions.
The capital market connects households’ saving decisions with firms’
financing requirements.
Financial intermediaries—such as commercial banks—play an
important role in bringing the two sides of the capital market
together.
