Featherlite recently launched a concept for
renting workspace furniture
Raymond Group goes solar with
Waaree Energies’ captive solution
F
eatherlite has come up with the concept of renting workplace furniture by
initiating a start-up called Rentlite.
Spearheaded by young entrepreneurs, Kush Jawahar and Kiran Chellaram,
Rentlite is to revolutionise the buying behaviour of millennial entrepreneurs and
corporates for workspace and allied products. Since, buying workspace furniture
can be capital intensive, especially for a boot-strap start-up or a growing SME,
the start-ups mission is to help solve the CAPEX and OPEX related concerns
for entry level entrepreneurs across India.
Thus, Rentlite serves a mixed bag of clients including individuals, SMEs and
corporates. The Àrm has recently completed two M 1 Cs in Bangalore plus nine
start-ups in food processing, construction, recruitment technology and the
aviation Industry.
W
aaree Energies, one of India’s largest solar PV
manufacturer and EPC player, has associated with
Raymond Group, a fashion retailing space, to provide
open access solar solution in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
With a capacity of 2.5 MWp, the plant is expected to
reduce carbon dioxide emission by approx. 3650 tonnes
per annum. In a Àrst of its kind in Maharashtra, the
commissioned plant has been developed under the group
captive model and will have a solar electricity generation
capacity of 38 lakh units/year. Waaree Energies serves as
a Turnkey Engineering Procurement and Construction
(EPC) partner to the brand.
Sunil Rathi, director, Waaree Energies said, “The
group captive model is catching wind on account of
the lucrative investment sharing, which reduces the
capital investment and in-turn reduces the end user
cost by 50% when compared to a captive open access
solution. Due to part ownership of the plant, users
can avail of energy at an approximate average of I 1 R
1.5 per unit, which only includes the distribution loss,
wheeling and banking charges, versus I 1 R per unit in
case of captive plants. This presents the end consumers,
predominantly large scale C&I players, with a Ànancially
lucrative proposition while helping them achieve their
sustainability goals.”
Talking about the collaboration, Shri
Mohammad Mustafa, Chairman and MD, SIDBI
said, “This is yet another initiative of ours to
handhold entrepreneurs who are at the initial
stage of their entrepreneurship journey. During
the Àrst 18 months of entrepreneurship journey,
an enterprise may face several challenges. At
SIDBI we want to handhold entrepreneurs during
this period so that they have a smooth ride in
their venture. Our aim is to expand
the scope of @Workspaze even
in other key cities of the country.
We have already started work on a
similar arrangement in Mumbai.”
Sharing his thoughts about the
collaboration, Srijan Pal Singh, Former
Advisor to Late APJ Abdul Kalam
said, “The Indian youth is booming
with talent, passion and ideas for
ventures that have the capability
to reshape our country. Over the
years I have seen dreams being
born and crushed due to the lack of
resources and guidance that teething
ventures need. I am glad to be a part
of this initiative that is supporting MSME’s and
the dreams of the entrepreneurs attached with
them. I wish Incuspaze and SIDBI all the best for
this venture (@WORKSPAZE) and I truly hope
that they can fulÀll the goals they have set-out to
achieve.”
The centre is set up in over 3000 Sq ft. area
and is equipped with 100 seats with conference,
training and meeting rooms.
