all levels to work within the West Midlands Regional Genetics
Laboratory. Our expanded workforce is helping to create a world
class genomics laboratory service, providing state of the art
genomic analysis for NHS patients with a rare disease or cancer.
The West Midland Regional Genetics Laboratory (WMRGL), based
DW%LUPLQJKDP:RPHQ·VDQG&KLOGUHQ·V1+6)7LVWKHFHQWUDO
laboratory for the West Midlands, Oxford and Wessex Genomics
Laboratory Hub network, serving 11 million people across the
geography.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with a
background or interest in genomics, and its transformative
potential to provide personalised medicine to patients with

Registered Clinical Scientists (AfC Band 7 & 8)


  • Analysis and reporting of genomic diagnostic investigations.

  • Managing and developing areas of new and existing service
    work.

  • Working directly with clinicians to provide complex genomic
    results to improve patient care.
    Healthcare Scientist Graduate Trainee
    (pre-registration AfC Band 6)

    Scientist following the equivalence route with the Academy for
    +HDOWKFDUH6FLHQFH $+&6 
    Technical Programme Managers (AfC Band 7)

  • Senior management roles are available for Senior Genetic
    Technologist or Healthcare Scientists wishing to take on a
    leadership role within the technical workforce.
    Genetic Technologists and Senior Genetic Technologists
    (AfC Band 5 & 6)

  • Opportunities exist for registered Genetic Technologists and
    IRUWKRVHORRNLQJWREHFRPHUHJLVWHUHGZLWK$+&6

  • Opportunities also exist for those with experience who are
    looking to progress into management roles.
    Healthcare Science Assistants and Healthcare Science
    Associates (AfC Band 2, 3 &4)

  • Positions are available for those wishing to start a career in
    genetics.
