MK Dons 2 - 1 MK Dons 2 - 1
Only penalties separated these
fiercest of rivals three weeks ago
but Dons will edge it this time.

It was 2-2 a few weeks ago when
these two met in the Carabao Cup
at Kingsmeadow. I fancy MK Dons
at home this time though.

Wimbledon Wimbledon

Coventry 2 - 1 Coventry 1 - 1
Another one where
home advantage, if such a thing
exists for the ground-sharing
Sky Blues, will make a slender
difference.

Two teams that have both
started the season pretty well.
Only three points separated
them last season too, so I have
this one being close.

Blackpool Blackpool

Morecambe2 - 2 Morecambe0 - 2
Salford are quickly becoming
the draw specialists of League
Two. And this could be
yet another.

Salford’s promotion aspirations
have been hampered by drawing
too many games so far. I fancy
them to spring an away win this
week though.

Salford Salford

Wycombe 2 - 1 Wycombe2 - 2
The Chair Boys will have
edged everything at home this
season, and in a battle of two
League One heavyweights will
do so again.

I was impressed with
Lincoln’s football vs Everton in
the Carabao cup. I think they’ll
get something away to a Wycombe
side who look decent.

Lincoln Lincoln

Chorley0 - 3 Chorley 1 - 3
Chorley are finding the step
up to the National League
unforgiving. This will be another
grim reality test.

Chorley are really struggling
at the bottom of the Conference
and are shipping in goals. I expect
Stockport to pile on more misery.

Hometoon hero Wilson’s mum

sees her son in action for

England for the first time

tonight as he promises a

slice of family redemption

BY ALEX SPINK Rugby Correspondent
MARK WILSON is out to restore
family pride at St James’ Park
when he lines up for England
tonight.
Taking the final warm-up game
against Italy to the
flanker’s home city of
Newcastle means his
mum gets to watch him
represent the country
for the first time.
It also gives him a
chance to make amends
for his father-in-law,
Andy, missing a penalty
at half-time during Alan
Shearer’s testimonial 13
years ago.
Wilson (above) said:
“My wife Amy’s family
had season tickets at
Newcastle and when
she was a kid she won
a competition.
“The prize was to
take a penalty at
Shearer’s testimonial
so she put forward her
dad, who’s a mad
Geordie. He went to
the academy during
the week to practise
with Peter Beardsley

and said he was banging them in.
Come the game there’s a different
keeper who comes up and says, ‘You’re
not going to score past me, son’.
“Andy takes his penalty and misses.
I think he hit the post. As long as I’m
more successful than
him, that will be all
right.”
England also want
to create a happier
memory than their
last ‘home match’
away from Twicken-
ham. They beat
Uruguay in
Manchester at the
2015 World Cup, but
the mood was
sombre as they
had already
become the first
host nation to be
eliminated in the pool
stages.
“Getting to Twicken-
ham for families up
here is quite an effort,”
said Wilson. “So this is
special for youngsters
in the north.
“Also for my mum,
who’s never seen me in
an England shirt.”

PATCHELL’S

PATCHED UP

FOR WALES
BY STEFFAN THOMAS
RHYS PATCHELL is ready
to forget a nightmare
season and help fire Wales
to World Cup glory.
The fly-half (below) will
start his first Test since
June 2018 against Ireland
in Dublin tomorrow
after sealing a
last-gasp place
on the plane to
Japan.
Patchell, 26,
suffered two
concussions last
term to make it three
head knocks within a year.
He said: “It was three in
the space of 12 months,
which was the concern.
“And it’s a bizarre injury

  • you can’t see anything
and you have no scars. It
    wasn’t the season I wanted,
    going into a World Cup.”
