Star alphabet

Guide wise men (and women) to your door this winter with messages

spelled out in irresistibly sparkly and colourful Christmas stars

By Shannon Wasilieff

1

Find the centre of

your fabric by folding

it in half both horizontally

and vertically. The centre

point is where the two

fold lines meet and form

a cross in the fabric. Find

the centre of the chart

and start stitching from

here, in the centre of the

fabric, working your way

outwards. If you're stitching

letters together, you may

find it easier to plot out

the word on graph paper

before you start to stitch.

2

Complete all the cross

stitch in the design

using two strands of cotton

or metallic thread – check

the key as you stitch to

make sure you are always

working correctly.

3

Work the backstitch

next using one strand of

Kreinik #4 braid.

4

Work the French knots

last of all using one

strand of Kreinik #4 braid.

Carefully check over your

finished stitching, then

prepare it for making up.

It is worked in whole

and French knots and

each letter will take

3-4 hours to stitch. We
