ASPECT
A fancy word to
describe the geo-
metric relationship
between any two
planets based on
their locations.
CONJUNCT
When two planets
are in the same loca-
tion and combine
forces.
SEXTILE
When two plan-
ets are 60 degrees
apart, enhancing
each other’s impacts.
If Venus and Mars
(romance and sex)
form a sextile, expect
a boost in your love
life.
TRINE
When two plan-
ets are chilling 120
degrees apart.
They’ll usually be in
the same element
(fire, water, earth, or
air) and thus highly
compatible. This is a
good thing.
QUINCUNX
When two planets
are 150 degrees
apart—they have
nothing in common
and create major ten-
sion in your life.
YOD
::deep breath:: When
two planets are sex-
tile to each other and
both planets are then
quincunx to a third
planet. Yod is a rare,
powerful aspect.
If you have one on
your birth chart, you
probs feel like you’re
“fated” to do some-
thing huge in life and
you won’t stop until
you do (like, ya might
be famous!).

it’s, um, a sign: They
don’t really know
what they’re talking
about. What they’re
actually asking is
“What’s your Sun
sign?”—or what sign
was the Sun hanging
out in when you were
born? But that’s only

The Sun represents
your sense of self and
will. Where it falls in
your chart is where
you want to shine,
how you want to be
seen, and where your
energy comes from.
(P.S. When you read
your horoscope,
unless the astrologer
tells you otherwise,
you’re reading a Sun
sign horoscope.)
The Moon is your

Rising sign describes
how you present
yourself to the world
and the way you look.
The energy you throw
into a room when
you walk in is your
Rising sign.
Okay, so let’s put
this all together in...
Betty Cooper from
Riverdale. She’s probs
a Virgo Sun sign:
polite and shy, totally
heady. But her Moon
feels more Scorpio,
because she’s also an
intense, undercover
bad girl. And her Ris-
ing sign? All Capri-
corn: Nothing gets
between her and her
crew. See? It all
makes sense.

names for the same
thing), marks the
