In 1899, Antoni Gaudí completed
Casa Calvet for textile manufacturer
Pere Màrtir Calvet. The Barcelona
dwelling was one of Gaudí’s earlier
buildings, but made clear his eye for
detail, right down to the coat hooks,
which have now been brought back
to life by Spanish brand BD Barcelona.
Forming part of the Gaudí Catherdra
collection, the design features a curvy
wooden body, through which brass-
plated steel ribbons are woven, while
the hanger itself protrudes from the top
void. It’s the kind of refined maximalism
we like to get our hooks into.

BORN AGAIN

here’s bourgeois bite on the Paris catwalks. The city’s
smartest residents have provided inspiration for
autumn accessories, with 1970s silhouettes, luxurious
fabrications and brass button bags all essentials for
the dame à la mode. High on our own haute hit list?
A pair of moccasins in sumptuous quilted leather and
a chic Saint Laurent trilby. For pre-fall 2019, Dior has
celebrated the maison’s historic birthplace with the
30 Montaigne collection. It refers to the upmarket
avenue where the brand’s first studio stands, an hôtel
particulier that Monsieur Dior inaugurated in 1946.
The collection features signatures of the maison,
including a shoulder bag with a ‘CD’ logo clasp, the
ultimate bourgeois buckle.
