To adhere heavier papers, hold a piece of heavy card or
thin wood against the back of the canvas, while pressing
the collage onto the front surface. Canvas has consider-
able "bounce" and it's easy for air bubbles to get trapped
between your collage and the support.
The weave of the canvas accepts paint very differently
from paper. I prefer pre-gessoed canvas, which has such a
bright white color that transparent glazes of paint achieve
a wonderful glow
