How to win at
social media
T
here are currently one billion active
accounts on Instagram. Over 50
billion photos have been shared
so far. There are more than 500
million blogs on the internet. So
how can you make sure you stand
out online? Easy. Just ask the winners of
the Cosmopolitan Influencer Awards 2019.
With the help of our judging panel, which
included Megan Crabbe, Lou Teasdale, Alice
Liveing and Lottie Tomlinson, we whittled
down all the influencers you, our readers,
nominated. Then we gathered together the
biggest names in the industry to reveal who
was taking away one of our coveted trophies.
We ate, we drank and we wept, as we listened
to Marvin Humes’ adorable tribute to his wife,
Rochelle, who won Celebrity Influencer Of
The Year. Thankfully, we still found time to
get all the tips we could on exactly how to
forge a career in social media. Listen up...

“Diversify your feed: social media can be an echo chamber and
it’s important to understand different people’s experiences so
that you’re being inclusive, and also resonating with people.
What are the top three things you want to communicate and
what will your look and feel be? Keep this consistent so people
know what they come to you for. Be involved in the communities
you care about. If you’re not talking to others, don’t expect
them to pay attention to you. Anchor your social media
presence in things you believe in. If it comes from a burning
passion, you’ll never run out of things to post, say, learn or do.”
