The best of...portable grills

Automobile
“Nothing drives like a Lotus.” That much is
clear from the moment you take your fi rst
corner in the Evora GT, an update of the
Evora 400 and for now the only vehicle sold
in the U.S. by the British boutique sports
car maker. In this “wonderfully analog” ma-
chine, no computers govern performance or
compensate for driver error. But the corner-
ing grip feels limitless, and the steering is
magical. “A carnival of speed and noise,”
the Evora offers “one of the few unique ex-
periences left in our digital motoring world.”

Jalopnik.com
“If you’re lucky enough to drive one, you

better bring your A game.” Given its hyper-
sensitive steering, the Evora hound-dogs
any direction you “so much as think about.”
Still, it’s “divine to drive,” with a 416-hp
Toyota-sourced midmounted engine and
wide Michelin tires that are “almost sticky
enough to catch fl ies.” And don’t even
consider the subpar automatic transmission,
because the “supremely snappy” six-speed
manual is “the kind of shifter you’ll be tell-
ing your grandkids about.”

Autoblog.com
Lotus is already taking orders on a $2 mil-
lion, 2,000-hp all-electric hypercar that will
become the brand’s fl agship. The Evora

GT is different: a hand-built performance
vehicle for a particular breed of wealthy
driver, a driver determined to collect
unique gems and “enjoy this moment of
analog goodness while it’s around.”

Tip of the week...
Household remedies for sunburns

Best apps...
For buying eyeglasses

And for those who have
everything...
Sometimes a mess is
so small that even
pulling out a stan-
dard handheld
vacuum feels
like overkill. But
there is another
way. The World’s
Smallest Vacuum
Cleaner looks “more
like a toy than an actual
cleaning tool,” but it’s perfect for those
times when your desk has been sullied by
the crumbs of a single cookie or the pollen
of a single fl ower. When you need it, it
draws its power by plugging into any USB
port. And though we’d like to say it’d look
great held by a 6-inch action fi gure, it’s
7.5  inches tall itself, so it’s probably better
stored in a small drawer.

QA cool shower: You want to cool the skin,
so “don’t discount the obvious”: A cool bath
or shower provides relief and will reduce
inflammation. If only a small area is affected,
use a cold compress or ice pack instead.
QMilk and yogurt: Dairy fat and dairy
proteins soothe and protect damaged skin.
Chill a bowl of milk with ice cubes to use
the milk on a compress. Plain yogurt can be
applied to the face as a mask and washed
off when it ceases to be cool.
QCold chamomile tea: Chamomile also
makes a good poultice, because of its anti-
inflammatories and antioxidants.
QCucumber slices: Cucumbers have both
analgesic and antioxidant properties.
QOatmeal: As a sunburn heals, oatmeal
can relieve the itchiness. Take a cool bath
using a store-bought colloidal oatmeal
treatment, or simply make a topical paste of
milk and oats.

QWarbyParker.com is the best place to buy
glasses online, and not just because shop-
pers can try on five frames at home before
spending a dime. All you’ll need to order
glasses online is a current prescription and
the distance between your pupils.
QGlassesUSA.com offers stylish discounted
eyewear from brands such as Ray-Ban and
Coach. Prices start at $38, lenses included.
QZenniOptical.com has more styles than
most, including 1,000 frames for women.
QEyeBuyDirect.com is the most affordable
option, with frames starting at $6, and most
prescription glasses running about $70 in
total. “This is a good choice if you’re look-
ing for a backup pair.”
QDiffEyewear.com does sell some pre-
scription glasses, but it’s best known for its
bold statement sunglasses.
QFelixAndIris.com caters to those in
search of something more traditional.
