Lead author Dr Linda Papa, of Orlando
Health, said the blood test could be useful
for athletes or medics at the scene of a car
crash, adding: “The technology is only a
year or two away.”
A BLOOD test to detect concussion could
be in use within two years.
The test looks for proteins called GFAP
and UCH-L1 that are found in our brains
and released into blood after an injury.
Higher levels could indicate a concussion
or a subconcussive injury – which often
show no immediate symptoms but cause
