The UK is predicted to see the hottest late August bank holiday on record as a heatwave hits the country
this weekend, according to the Met Office.
A new record has already been set in Wales, which saw its highest late August bank holiday temperature
(27.4C) yesterday. The Met Office expects high temperatures of 32C in southern England, surpassing the
current record of 31.5C at Heathrow airport during the 2001 late August bank holiday weekend.
Southeasterly winds drew warm air from Europe towards the UK on Friday, bringing a heatwave and dry
weather for the weekend.
