fun way to add a personal touch to

your groom’s outfit. Whynot make

them for your ushers, too?

A pair of socks (preferablycotton)

Textile markers in your choice

ofcolours Apiece of cardboard

Place thepiece ofcardboard in

one ofthe socks, creatingaflat

surfacetodrawor writeon.

Get creative! Write a love note,

draw apicture or create a design

like this bywritingyours andyour

groom’s initials, along with hearts.

Tip:Use anotherpiece of cardboard

andtrace along it todraw thelines

underneaththe initials, to get a

neaterdesign.

Ironoverthesocks tosecure

the markers. This will help

prevent the design from fading in the

washingmachine.

Optional:Print a fun name or design

on apiece ofpatternedpaper and

wrapit around the socks to make

them look store-bought.

Why not makethesocks mis-

matched?Writing our initials on the

socks took somepatience and time,

and I didn’t havemuch timeleft for

the other one, so I decided to optfora

simpler design on the remainingsock,

Trim your flowers to leave around

5cm ofstem length, so that a little

ofthe stem can reach water while it’s

waitingto be used. Wireyour flowers

bypiercingbelow theflower headfor

round blooms, or through the top of

aflat-headedflower.

Measureyour head, then cut

three lengthsofreel wire long

enoughtogo around; twist together

for strength.One end should hook

into the other to create a hoop.

BindthiswithStemtexto cover

the wire and create a strong base.

Twistivyaroundthecrown

shape. One at a time, starting

at one end, wire your flowers onto

the crown. Start with the first flower

head facing one end of the crown,

and wire the flowers and foliage all

facingin the same direction to avoid

bruising the flowers as you work.

Use ribbontocoverupwhere the

wire shows and to finish the hook

at theback.You couldalso makea

lighter crown by using fewer flowers

andmoreribbonbetweenthem.

TOP TIP!

Useflowers that don’t wilt easilyout

ofwater. Well-conditioned roses,

dahlias, cornflowers, nigella, astrantia,

statice and pinks are allgood options.
