In perhaps the biggest surprise of the summer, the raunchy
tween pic laughed past Hobbs & Shaw to win the weekend and
become the first R-rated comedy in more than three years to
open No. 1. It’s also the year’s top debut for an original comedy.

Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film topped the weekend foreign
chart as it began opening in earnest overseas. The pic now
has a shot at approaching or passing 2012’s Django Unchained
($425 million), the director’s top-grossing title to date.

Not even The Boss’ rep could rescue the film — about a young
Pakistani man who falls hard for Bruce Springsteen’s music —
from bombing. It’s the latest adult-skewing summer pic to flame
out (Where’d You Go, Bernadette also flopped over the weekend).

Without the boon of its usual
Bachelorette lead-in, the dating com-
petition still premieres up 13 percent
from its summer 2018 bow. Night two
mostly holds up.

Taking a shorter-than-typical hiatus
— a mere three weeks — in the
midst of its fifth season, the Walking
Dead spinoff returns mostly intact,
down just 9 percent.

The song reigns
after nine weeks at
No. 2, the longest
for any title before
reaching No. 1 in
Hot 100 history. It
dethrones “Old
Town Road” after
19 weeks.

The third No. 1
for the band also
marks the first
hard rock album to
lead the chart
since Foo Fighters’
Concrete and Gold
in 2017.
