The new Yacht-Master has a 42mm

A constant companion of sea lovers and the
world’s most prestigious yacht clubs, the
Yacht-Master embodies the very core values of
the sailing world and Rolex’s own philosophy.
First and foremost of these is the construction
of the Oyster case which has a caseband made
from a single block of metal, and is water-resi-
stant to 100 metres. It also sports the signature
Triplock crown and a screwdown caseback. In
the new Yacht-Master, however, the case has an
all-new 42mm diameter and is made from 18
carat white gold with a bi-directional rotating
bezel with a graduated matt black Cerachrom
disc. The movement is new too – the 3235 au-
tomatic calibre with central second and date.
All this adds up to a power reserve of approxi-
mately 70 hours. The new watches features
multiple Rolex patents, not least the Chronergy
escapement, the Parachrom blue hairspring and
the Paraflex shock protection system. As with
all of Rolex’s pro watches, the Yacht-Master
was designed to be extremely easy to read in all
kinds of light conditions – there is Chromalight
super–luminova treatment on both hands and
indices. The date is also very visible too, thanks
to a sapphire glass window with Cyclope lens at
3 o’clock.
The Oysterflex is both comfortable and secure
as it comprises flexible metal blades made from
a titanium and nickel alloy overmoulded with
high-performance black elastomer for superior
durability and toughness. It also includes the
famous Oysterlock safety clasp in white gold
complete with the Rolex Glidelock extension sy-
stem.As with all new-generation Rolex watches,
the Yacht-Master is Superlative Chronometer
officially certified which means it has passed
the incredibly strict tests carried out in the ma-
nufacture’s laboratories when the movement
has already been inserted into the case and fol-
lowing official Chronometer certification proce-
dures. The result is guaranteed precision in the
order of -2/+2 seconds per day, water-resistan-
ce, automatic winding and the power reserve.
