Diver Blue Shark: Ulysse Nardin and the Monaco
Yacht Show celebrate an 11-years partnership

Once again Ulysse Nardin will be the official
timekeeper at the Monaco Yacht Show, a part-
nership that continues this year by showcas-
ing the Diver Blue Shark. Created in a limited
edition of just 300 watches, this elegant blue
timepiece has a 42mm diameter steel case. The
design brief was to create a watch that can be
worn every day. A self-winding Calibre UN-816
offers a reserve of 42 hours power. The date
window is positioned above the 6 o’clock mark,
making it is easy and immediate to read from
the sandblasted face that, from an aesthetic
point of view, offers the utmost in formal ti-
diness while conforming to the classic diving
watch style. The Diver Blue Shark, in fact, has
been designed to withstand pressures of up to
300 metres. The back is adorned with an en-
graving of the brand’s anchor symbol. Alterna-
tively, purchasers can choose the silhouette of

a blue shark, in continuity with the Diver Great
White 44mm, the limited edition model created
for the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show. This year it’s
the bright orange outline of the Blue Shark illus-
trated at the bottom of the face. The number of
limited editions is indicated on the side. Other
details include the concave bezel and the convex
sapphire crystal, providing a vaguely retro fla-
vour that characterises the entire range of Diver
42mm watches.
“Ulysse Nardin‘s maritime tradition is at the
heart of this collaboration. With the Monaco
Yacht Show we share a passion for the sea, re-
finement, precision and innovation,” explained
Ulysse Nardin CEO Patrick Pruniaux. “We are
particularly proud to be joining forces with the
Monaco Yacht Show for the 11th consecutive
year.” The connection is further consolidated
through Dan Lenard, a mainstay in the world of
yacht design, who crossed the Atlantic single-
handed on a 33-foot sailing boat with no mo-
tor and no electronic instrumentation. His only
crewmate was his Diver Chronometer Great
White. The mission? To raise awareness about
the health of the oceans – a situation in which
time is now a key factor.
