Several accusers have come forward
since Surviving R Kelly hit the small screen
and the 52-year-old, whose full name is
Robert Sylvester Kelly, is now awaiting tri-
al on charges ranging from sexual assault
and child pornography to obstruction of
justice. The I Believe I Can Fly singer has
pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The sex-abuse scandal – which already
includes cases in New York and Chicago –
has now expanded to the state of Minne-
sota, where he was recently charged with
engaging in prostitution with a. egedly solicited a
teenager who asked him for an
autograph in 2001, according to
Minnesota state attorney, Mike
Freeman.
The musician allegedly invited the
then 17-year-old to his hotel room
and offered her $200 (then about R2
400) to undress and dance with him. Af-
ter money was exchanged, they had
sexual contact but not
intercourse, Freeman claims.
Kelly’s legal team are calling the
charges “beyond absurd”, adding
they don’t believe their client has
even met his alleged victim.
