September + October 2019 ADIRONDACK LIFE 61
tiful view with an isolated feel. The
trail back down to the Woodland Loop
zigzags through rocky steps; stones can
be loose, so use caution. Along the way
you’ll pass a pair of 3-foot-diameter
pines that have grafted together into a
120-foot-tall behemoth.
The junction of Woodland Loop and
Streamside (7) overlooks a freshwater
pond covered in lilies. Streamside is a
low .27-mile path through a damper,
darker ecosystem. The trail follows a
slow creek that flows from pond to wet-
lands. The far bank is topped by a hand-
made rock wall, the site of an old prop-
erty line. A bridge over the creek marks
the return of Meadow Ramble East, tak-
ing you back toward the parking lot.
