RUBBER UNDER
THE MIDFOOT
ADDS EVEN MORE
STABILITY.
Like a steady hand
guiding a child on a
bicycle, the guide rail
system, introduced in
the Adrenaline GTS
19, stabilizes your run
without overcorrection
or uncomfortable pres-
sure under your arch. It
has the same combina-
tion of BioMoGo DNA
and DNA Loft in its
midsole as its fraternal
twin, the neutral Ghost,
for plush cushioning
and energy return.
The 20 weighs abouta half ounce less than
its predecessor; Brooks
shaved some weight
by stripping away the
stylistic overlays that
decorated the 19’s engi-
neered mesh. However,
some runners with a
preference for “lighter,
faster” shoes said the
Adrenaline still felt too
heavy to turn on the
speed in their work-
outs. Instead, they
described the shoe
as a reliable choice
for long-run training.
Those runners appre-
ciated how the guide
rail system provided
support when their
legs were tired and gait
became sloppy.—A.F.is its upper—there is
plenty of collar padding
and a stiff heel counter.
The shoe also has a
midfoot sleeve that can
be cinched against your
foot when you pull the
middle laces tightly,
giving you a snug mid-
foot in an otherwise
roomy model. This let
me dial in a secure fit
faster than I can in most
shoes, and the engi-
neered mesh ventilated
my swelling feet on a
90-degree day. It isn’t
the most exciting shoe
in my rotation, but it’s
ideal for easy days and
long runs when I want a
big stability shoe to lull
me into a comfortable
lope.—D.R.RUNNERSWORLD.COM 53
