I
have loved the Lockheed P-38 Lightning
ever since I started to understand what
aircraft were. The famous twin-booms are,
of course, an immediate identifier but as
a young lad I always liked the cockpit pod
between the engines as it reminded me of
my beloved Star Wars machinery: as any
regular reader of this page will know, I do
love my Star Wars stuff!
For Tamiya to create a P-38 as a new-tool
1:48 model is a dream come true for me
(and many others around the world for sure)
and I will be building the kit as soon as I
possibly can! Tamiya’s P-38F/G will come
with weights to keep the nosewheel on the
ground, plus decals for the aircraft that was
involved in the shooting-down of Admiral
Yamamoto’s G4 ‘Betty’ bomber. ●
See you again next time

TAMIYA LOGO PLATE (PHOTO-ETCHED) 73023
Nothing sets off a completed model base quite like a smart manufacturer’s logo and Tamiya have just released a sheet of fourteen such
items (in four sizes) in photo-etched nickel-steel. They are made in the non-tab style so there are no nasty tags to file off after removal
from the fret; you simply peel the backing sheet away to release each logo. One could even apply matt black paint then sand off the high
points for a high-contrast effect. http://www.hobbyco.net
