bound to become an actor.
“When she first started,
she was 9,” Bruce, 83, told
Closer of Laura, 52, at an
LA screening of his new
movie The Peanut Butter
Falcon. “She asked me
what the drill was, and
I said, ‘Well, the drill is
very simple. The greatest
intimidator of actors
is behind-the-camera
intimidation. So you’ve gotto learn how to dance all
around that and not take it
personally.’ ” What does the
dance entail? “Just get your
work done and don’t think
that they’re all looking at
you because you’re going to
take three or four — forget
all that,” says Bruce. “And
secondly, go out on the edge
of the cliff and take risks.
Take roles other girls won’t
do. Sometimes you’ll have
directors that will save you,
and sometimes you won’t.
But you have to make the
effort to risk. She’s done
good at that.” No wonder

show, Nancy Drew. “It’s skiing,
snowboarding and snowshoeing
in the winter, and biking, hiking
and swimming in the spring
and summer. You don’t have an
excusetobeboredinParkCity.”
He ’shappy to keep the kids far
from the Hollywood scene: “Our
