Arabian Horse World – August 2019

(sharon) #1

EUROPEAN C SHOW
Despite sponsoring and
considerable prize money, the
gelding class only had a single
entry. Fortunately, El Emando
(QR Marc x Emanda), who was
Gold Champion by default, was
entirely worthy of the title. It also
happened to be the birthday of
his owner, Stefanie Bowens from
Belgium, who showed him
herself. But you have to wonder
where all the other geldings are,
especially in view of the
prize money.
The foal class was also small,
with just two entries. But there
again, they were well worth
seeing, with Ajman Stud’s typey
weanling AJ Faik (Shanghai EA x
AJ Farha) winning over Malenga
Arabians’ very showy E.S. Harir
colt Hero MA from Germany.
Having been taken to the show
straight from the farm and not
professionally trained, Hero MA is
clearly a natural talent.
The European C Show the next
day presented an entirely
different picture, with a greater
variety of horses on display.
Nevertheless, this show, too, was
dominated by one stud farm and
one sire: Knocke Arabians and
QR Marc. QR Marc get won all
but one of the classes they were
in, as well as taking three Gold
and three Silver titles, and they
were all bred and owned by
Knocke Arabians as well. To top it
all off, one of the Senior Gold
Champions was the dam of one
of the Junior Gold Champions,
and two of the Junior Gold
winners were full siblings. This
has to be some kind of record!
Starting with the junior fillies,
the Gold winner here was the
gorgeous and rather beautifully-
named Pearl Eden K.A., out of
Prisma de Lafon by WH Justice.
This filly has been in the winners’
circle from the earliest age,
starting out by winning Gold
Champion European Futurity
Foal in 2017, and Gold Champion
at Bruges and Silver Champion
at Chantilly in 2018. Still it was a
close decision, with two judges
voting for Pearl Eden and the
other two for the three-year-old
class winner, the ultra-refined
Bidzina K.A. (out of Bis Persia by
Khidar), who ended up Silver
Champion. Bronze was awarded
to the second-placed three-
year-old Forelock’s Yinx (FS
Reflection x Forelocks Yessy), a
typey and well-moving chestnut
filly bred and owned by
Forelock’s Arabians of Holland.
Rather surprisingly, none of the
yearlings got a title, although this
“TO TOP IT ALL OFF, ONE OF THE SENIOR GOLD
CHAMPIONS WAS THE DAM OF ONE OF THE
JUNIOR GOLD CHAMPIONS, AND TWO OF THE
JUNIOR GOLD WINNERS WERE FULL SIBLINGS.
THIS HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF RECORD!”
