Real Living Australia – September 2019

(Ann) #1
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SPRING. It makes me want to open
the windows, clean the house from top to bottom and
redecorate. Actually, who am I kidding, everything makes
me want to redecorate. Seriously though, it is the perfect
time of year to rearrange all your stuff and start afresh.
To get you in the mood, we’ve created a fun cover story
full of colour and florals (p13). There’s so much to love in
our cover image, from the blue lamp by emerging Aussie
designer Chi Dang to the amazing orange bed, custom-
made for us by Snooze. As for the florals, incorporating
them into your scheme is the perfect way to lift the pieces
you already have. For plenty of bloomin’ brilliant buys,
check out our shopping stories on this season’s hot new
vases (p85) and wallpaper and homewares trends (p97).
If you’re looking for renovating inspiration, this issue we
drop in on Bec and George Douros from The Block (p118).
They’ve designed a beautiful new home and the kitchen
and bathrooms are divine. The soft blue and sage green
wall tiles – I need them in my life! Then, in another story,
we peek into a compact flat-pack kitchen and discover
exactly why it works (p126). No matter the size of your
space or budget, great style is for everyone, I say!
As the weather is getting warmer, we’ve also compiled
a seasonal section on what to do outdoors to prepare for
spring (p135). There are tips on which edible plants are
best to grow right now, how to re-oil your deck and what
to consider when creating an allergen-free garden (plus
lots more). So, whether you get out into the sunshine or
buy a bunch of flowers, have fun welcoming spring.

In bloom How pretty is this Wild
Strawberry plate from Wedgwood?
It’s just one of the modern floral
pieces from our spring-inspired
cover shoot. See the rest on p13.
