It’s been rough going for the Jets over
the last two seasons, as Gang Green
won a total of nine games in that
span. This year could be different, with
the addition of All-Pro running back
Le’Veon Bell. Bell sat out last season
due to a contract dispute with the
Steelers, but Jets fans are hoping he
can make an immediate impact on their
lackluster offense. (New coach Adam
Gase, one of the game’s top offensive
minds, will also help.) The Jets ranked
26th in the NFL in total rushing yards
last year. In 2017, Bell rushed for
1,291 yards. The Jets’ five running
backs combined for 1,436 in ’18.
Like the Bills, the Jets are hoping
that their sophomore quarterback
makes big strides. New York picked
Sam Darnold third overall in the
2018 draft. He showed promise,
starting 13 games and throwing for
2,865 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Bell, who had 85 receptions in
his last season, will be a reliable
target. And that’s something the Jets
need: Only one receiver last year,
Robby Anderson, had more than
LAU 39 catches.
