Initially, the galley kitchen ceiling peaked by the sliding glass door,
so Wright decided to raise it all to the same height to further enhance
the open feeling. The cabinets sport silver, irregular, organic lines that
meet perfectly from drawer to drawer. A porcelain backsplash was re-
moved and blue quartz that contrasts nicely against the white quartz
countertop was introduced instead. Today, the small kitchen strikes a
balance between sleekness and playfulness, a marriage encapsulated
by the betta fish that lives in a Champagne glass–shaped aquarium atop
the windowsill.

The dry bar inhabits a corner once occupied by an awkwardly
placed slider at the front of the home. “There was a recessed front door
and a slider, so a lot of times people knocked on the slider and missed
the front door,” Wright says. After walling off the sliding glass door,
Wright designed a calcite waterfall bar. The area also boasts a wine
refrigerator, shelves for glassware, custom down lighting, and orange
accessories including two ottomans.
In the master bedroom, Wright modified the oddly shaped coffered
ceiling over the bed into a more rectangular form for aesthetics and
lighting purposes. Here, the pops of orange are ignored, and a more
tranquil blue color story takes over, as seen in the patterned grass cloth
wallpaper, accent pillows, and upholstered bench.
Prior to the renovation, the outdoor portion of the property was
almost all grass and devoid of weather-protected spaces. Wright de-
signed the lanai, outdoor kitchen, water feature, and firepit. “Now my
client has many more useable areas,” says Wright, who notes that the
custom gate is one of her favorite exterior details. She also selected the
lanai’s cypress ceiling, shell-stone decking, LED oil-rubbed bronze
lighting, and aluminum furniture, as well as the gas lanterns around
the pool. The client commissioned wrapped canvas artwork from Eric
Heitmann of Heitmann Fine Art.
