- Listening for words that sound alike
Props: None
Class Size: Any
Q^ PAGE DESIGN BY MICHAEL TSE
Divide the
class into three
groups.
Sample Story:
If you think about it, we all have many things to be thankful for. What things are
you thankful for? Think about it. I think you’re thankful for family and friends.
Those are the things I think I’m most thankful for. Aren’t you thankful for those
things, too? And I’m thankful for you. I think you are all so thoughtful. Don’t you
think that, too? In fact, when I think about all the thoughtful things you think about
doing, it makes me very, very thankful. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. I think
that’s all. Are you thankful,¶P¿QDOO\¿QLVKHGZLWKWKLVthing?
Variation for higher levels:
Have students choose different sound-alike words and write their own stories to share.
Assign each group
a word to listen for:
think, things or
thankful. When they
hear their word,
they quickly stand
up and sit down.
Practice by saying
the words in random
order several times.
Read or tell a story that
repeats the words think,
things or thankful. Have
the students quickly
stand up and sit down
each time their word is
spoken.
