livingroomdesignconsiderationspointtomakingit primarilyworkspace-conducive.On
thecontrary,thatourhomesmightcatertomorescreen-centricactivitiesmakesit allthe
moreimportanttoincorporatewarmandcharacterfultouches.“Societyis nostalgicfor
pastprocessesandhandiwork–addingcraftedmaterialstoourspacesis veryimportant
toallowustofeelgrounded,”saysdesignerSophieAshbyof WestLondon-basedStudio
Ashby.Antiques,whicharemakinga softcomeback,andearth-inspiredpalettescountfor
suchtouches.AsHongKong-baseddesigner,PeggyBels,pointsout:“This2019,trends
arestillin naturalandorganicmaterials–wood,stone,andsoftorganicfabrics.”Asthe
ever-multifunctionalroom,thelivingareawillnodoubtevolvewiththetimes–and with
technology. All the while, its core purpose of facilitating human connections remain, and
we’d benefit ourselves a great deal by taking design cues accordingly.

點之外，客廳又獲賦予另一全新用途。設計公司Bean Buro的Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui表示：
「現時愈來愈多人在家工作，客廳亦變成一個半工作區。」不過，這並不代表客廳會以工
作環境為設計之本；反之，我們的居所應迎合各種需要使用屏幕的活動，所以在設計上必
須注入更多溫暖格調和個人特色。西倫敦設計公司Studio Ashby的設計師Sophie Ashby指
出：「社會傾向懷緬過去和手工藝品，為居所加入手工物料讓我們更有歸屬感。」古董正
悄悄回歸主流，而大地色調亦與之十分相配。香港設計師Peggy Bels解釋：「今年的潮流
仍是以天然和有機物料為主，例如木材、石材和有機軟布藝。」客廳作為多用途空間，當
然會隨著時間以及科技發展而有所轉變。這個重要區域一直肩負著聯繫人們的重任，我們
