FROM THE SIDELINES

he roots of Halliday
Homes were sown
in Bridge of Allan by
Owner and Managing Director
Austin Halliday, who set up the
business just two years after
leaving school.
Such has been their success
over the past three years
that the company has now
branched out, with a second
office now open in Linlithgow
to allow them to fully cover the
surrounding areas, including
Dunblane, Stirling, Bo’ness and
Falkirk.
Austin’s aim is that the
staff’s local expertise and
professionalism, together with
the highest levels of customer
service, makes Halliday Homes
the ideal agent for anyone
looking for a new home, or
looking to sell their property.
The Managing Director spoke
exclusively to SCRUM about
the business’ journey so far.
“My dad is an architect and I
worked with him a bit after I left
school - I didn’t want to go to
university - I had the grades to,
but it wasn’t for me.

“I always knew I wanted to do
something with property and
there wasn’t enough work with
dad, so I decided to move into
estate agency and give it a go
on my own,” the 24-year-old
said.
As well as having overall
charge of the business,
Austin’s day-to-day role
includes doing all the
valuations for properties.
He explained: “My main role
is to make sure everything is
running well and people are
doing what they should be
doing.
“I do all the valuations for the
business - I like to get people
signed up and then it’s over to
the rest of the team to take it
from there.”
The opening of a new office
means that former Wallace
High School pupil Austin is
splitting his time between
Bridge of Allan and Linlithgow,
while Halliday Homes employs
a team of eight staff across
their two offices.
And such has been the
success of the business’
inaugural office in Bridge of

Allan, they’ve branched out
to West Lothian, and recently
opened the doors to their
second office in Linlithgow.
“They are pretty much the
same type of area” said Austin,
adding: “That was an important
factor for us to keep in mind.
“It’s early days just now but
business has been good so
far.”
Their success was showcased
at The Herald Property Awards
for Scotland 2018 when they
were named Scottish Estate
Agency of the Year.

“That was a great achievement
for us,” reflected Austin on
the award, while adding that
Halliday Homes is in the
running to retain the title when
this year’s awards are held at
the end of September.
Austin Halliday is making great
waves in the property industry,
and will hope that Halliday
Homes continues to appear
on awards shortlists for many
years to come.
