ST COLUMBA’S EXAM RESULTS 2019,

BUCKING NATIONAL TRENDS, CREATING SOLID

FOUNDATIONS AND AIMING HIGH

his year, St Columba’s again
produced an outstanding set of
examination results; at Higher, the
results were particularly impressive with 26
pupils (42% of the cohort) achieving five A
grades and the pass rate was a strong 94.3%.
These are our second highest results on record
and an increase of over 10% on the last two
years. We were also delighted that our pupils
bucked the national trend where Higher results
fell by two percentage points to 74.8%.
Meanwhile, at Advanced Higher, the results
were superb with 92.4% pass rate and an
outstanding 59.5% A grades (again, the second
best we have on record). At National 5, the 97%
pass rate was excellent, providing pupils with a
solid foundation from which they will progress
their studies to Higher level.

that our pupils delivered such an excellent set

of results which reflect a great deal of hard work

from many people. They also highlight our open

policy towards examination presentations. We

encourage pupils to enter subjects they are

inspired by. That freedom of choice is a vital

part of our school’s ethos and means that the

results are a genuine reflection of the work of all

involved.”

Open Day is a great opportunity for current and

prospective families to learn more about the

school.

Open from 10am on Saturday, 21 September, the

event will be a fun and immersive experience

where visitors will be given the chance to see

our vibrant learning environment up close. Tour

our impressive facilities, including the state-of-

the-art Girdwood Building, and see some of the

outstanding work our pupils produce. Visitors

will also be given the opportunity to watch and

listen to some of our talented musicians, artists

and sportspeople, not to mention our award-

winning Pipe Band!
