2015
New Zealand 34-17 Australia: History. A second
successive Rugby World Cup triumph secured
with victory over their arch-rivals.
Tries from Nehe Milner Skudder, Ma’a Nonu and Beauden
Barrett sealed victory, while Dan Carter was sublime on his
international swansong, allowing his old pal Richie McCaw
to collect the Webb Ellis Cup for the second time.

2011
New Zealand 8-7 France: A second Rugby World Cup victory,
24 years after their maiden victory - also on home soil. The All
Blacks had lost talisman Dan Carter en route to the final, and
their win was sealed by a try from prop Tony Woodcock despite
a herculean effort from France Captain Thierry Dusautoir.

2007
New Zealand 18-20 France: A Yannick Jauzion try from a
pass that replays proved to be forward saw France upset the
pre-tournament favourites in Cardiff. The failure of referee
Wayne Barnes to spot the try-scoring pass saw him vilified
by the Kiwi public, and their heroes returned home having
failed to reach the semi-finals for the first time ever.

2003
Australia 23-10 New Zealand: On home soil, the Wallabies
produced a stunning upset to eliminate the All Blacks in
the semi-finals. Stirling Mortlock scored a length of the field
interception, while the flawless Elton Flatley kicked five
penaties to see the hosts into the final against England.

1999
New Zealand 31-43 France: One of the greatest games
there ever was. France had been written off in most
quarters against the pre-tournament favourites, and the
All Blacks raced into a 24-10 lead, before a sensational
comeback saw Les Bleus score 33 unanswered points to
unceremoniously dump the fabled All Blacks - including
the imperious Jonah Lomu - out of the competition.

1995
South Africa 15-12 New Zealand: One of the sport’s
most iconic days, as Nelson Mandela handed
over the trophy to Springbok captain Francois
Pienaar. Despite the ‘Boks having home
advantage, the All Blacks were most
people’s favourites to win the
final, but they were struck down
with illness on the eve of the
game, and the Springboks
produced a display that united
a nation to clinch the trophy.

1991

Domination of the world game complete

(for the first time) as New Zealand cruised

to victory in the first-ever Rugby World

Cup final at Eden Park, Auckland.

They had dominated all before

them in the inaugural tournament

and were worthy winners.
