OSCARWINNER OLIVIACOLMAN CONFESSES

espite being an Oscar winner,
Olivia Colman has admitted she
was nervous about stepping into
Claire Foy’s shoes and taking
over the role of Elizabeth II in The Crown.
‘It’s horrendous, everyone loves Claire
Foy, so I have got the worst job in the
world,’ she says. Olivia also revealed that
during the first week of filming she found
herself ‘trying to do Claire impressions’
and thinking, what would she have done?
As a huge fan of the wildly popular
Netflix series, Olivia also confessed that
she was ‘deeply uncool’ about being
offered the part. ‘The producers went:
“So...” And I said: “Yes! Yes! I’m really
excited! Thank you very much!”’ she
laughs. The hotly anticipated third series
of The Crown
will cover the
’60s and ‘70s
and see the
roles of the
Queen and
Prince Philip
- previously
Claire Foy and
Matt Smith - taken over
by Olivia, 45,
and Game
Of Thrones
star Tobias
Menzies, also
45. Meanwhile,
Helena Bonham Carter will replace
Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.
But it seems that Olivia already has one
element of the role nailed – bonding
with the Queen’s furry friends. When
she was in the role, Claire admitted: ‘Oh
my God – the corgis. I’m not much of a
dog person, to be perfectly frank.’ But it
appears that Olivia fared better as new
promotional shots show.
Olivia’s regal turn in the new series
starts November 17 – we can’t wait!
