It’s Showtime!
This week’s top-shelf TV

WEDNESDAY,7.35PM,SBS
Tony Robinson thinks the River Thames in the UK
is one of the greatest rivers in the world. In this
series, he’s planning on “getting to know it
intimately” and following it from its source – a
piddly little stream in the middle of a field – to
the sea, walking the Thames Path National Trail.
It’s Europe’s longest riverside walk, and the
terrain it covers is as vast as it is varied. In
episode one he hot-foots it from Kemble through
the Cotswolds to Oxford, hitching a ride with
a local cray fisherman along the way.

Coast To Coast

MONDAY, 9AM, ABC KIDS
Death is a tricky subject to discuss with young children,
which is why Play School has dedicated a whole episode
to exploring the concept of life and death with its young
audience. Designed to help families introduce and explore
the topics with their preschoolers, producers consulted
early childhood experts from the National Centre for
Childhood Grief. Hosts Emma Palmer – who is pregnant
with her own baby – and Alex Papps are empathetic and
relatable. The episode is already on iview, to give parents
and carers a chance to view it ahead of time. It’s sensitively
handled and worth a watch if you have young children.

Series
return

This series is
harrowing,
relevant and
powerful.

This show is a
great spin on the
popular Coast.

It’s scary how
true-to-life this
comedy is!

WEDNESDAY, 9PM, ABC
Have some blood pressure medication and a packet of indigestion tablets to
hand – you’re going to need them after watching the return of Utopia. It so
perfectly skewers what it’s like to work in an office of pencil pushers and petty
bureaucrats there’s a good chance that if you actually do, you’ll experience
something akin to PTSD. The performances from comedy stars Celia Pacquola,
Rob Sitch, Kitty Flanagan, Dilruk Jayasinha and Lehmo are perfect to a fault,
and so, so cringey. This is our Aussie version of The Office – and it's glorious.
